Bones lives in the forest by the sea. He has a house, a garden and a workshop, where he invents various unusual machines and potions. Two young girls find their way to Inverhora, where Bones is, and thus begins a series of unusual adventures.
They become guinea pigs for Bones’ strange contraptions, including a space helmet and the dream chamber. One of the girls returns and meets Sam, a canine friend of Bones who teaches her the value of learning and developing her mind. She begins a quest to find her heart’s truest desire, before attempting a dream-walking test set by Bones and Sam, during which she meets a girl who is like an older version of herself and who shows her various scenes from her own life. On passing this test, however, both creatures deem her ready to return to her own world and face her problems once more.
The girl has one last trip with Bones and Sam before leaving. They visit Bones’ new shop, Bones Apothecary, an outlet for his inventions and potions.

This book was sort of oddball and offbeat, I thought. It's sort of a mix of a children's story with a lot of metaphysical, mystical stuff. Were there, at times, a very slight hint of predator-child interactions? I asked myself this question and cannot be sure, maybe I read something into it that wasn't really there. Overall, the book's (and Bones) message is to believe in and have confidence in ourselves.Product details

Bones the Fish edition by Janis Armstrong Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews
if you dont have any imagination it doesnt matter, the writing takes you on the characters magical journey and leaves you feeling like you were there, which i dont find often. superbly written, lovely story. reminds me of a bit of chocolat by joanne harris, though its a kids book really if you liked that kind of escapism you would like bones the fish
